Body. Breath. Sound: An Afternoon of Healing and Renewal

On a sunny Los Angeles afternoon at the luxury Pendry West Hollywood, wellness enthusiasts came together for Body. Breath. Sound., an immersive event dedicated to unwinding tension, reconnecting with inner selves, and finding a sense of calm. Hosted by Altha, Joesph “Big Joe” Fauria, and Isabel Kelly of One Soma, this event was designed to guide attendees through an experience of bodywork, breathwork, and hypnosis-infused sound healing.

Beginning with the Body

After a welcome speech that also included a journal exercise and a signature Altha scent activation, the afternoon opened with a focus on physical release, led by Isabel Kelly, a certified Rolfer and founder of OneSoma Bodywork. Attendees learned therapeutic deep-tissue techniques aimed at melting away tension and promoting mobility. The session emphasized working with the back muscles along the spine, combining slow, deliberate movements with open communication between partners to maximize effectiveness.

This bodywork went beyond a simple massage; it also offered tools for relieving stiffness, improving posture, and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. At the end of this portion of the event, guests were left with not only relaxed muscles but also with the knowledge to replicate these techniques at home. Such experiences are a key feature of luxury wellness retreats, where relaxation and education come together to promote long-term well-being.

Experiencing the Power of Breath

The next segment shifted the focus to breathwork, with Big Joe guiding attendees through an energizing session. Known for his Big Breath method, Joe seamlessly blended ancient Pranayama practices with contemporary rhythmic breathing patterns and carefully curated music.

Through guidance, participants reached a safe altered state of consciousness, empowering them to release long-held emotions, anxious thoughts and trauma. Whether they were first-timers or seasoned breathwork aficionados, attendees described this experience as deeply cathartic and a significant step toward personal healing.

Immersing in Sound

To close the afternoon, Altha founder Letizia led a deeply immersive signature Hypno-Sound Bath experience, offering a private sound bath that created a unique, personalized atmosphere for each guest. This followed the completion of the breathwork session. Using instruments like gongs, crystal alchemy bowls, chimes, and ocean drums, Letizia crafted an environment of soothing sound vibrations that truly “bathed” each guest.

Combined with therapeutic hypnosis, the session encouraged participants to explore their inner world while achieving a state of complete relaxation. Several attendees described feeling as though time stood still, leaving them refreshed, stress-free, and grounded.

This concluding segment harmonized the physical, emotional, and mental elements of the day, allowing attendees to leave the event with a renewed sense of balance.

Bonus Animal Healing

We were lucky enough to have three canine attendees at the event, which is always a lovely surprise for us as the reason Altha started is because of Letizia’s dog, Zen, who was able to transform after receiving regular animal healing (and why we are also proud to offer sound healing for our animal friends).

The Thoughtful Details

The thoughtful partnerships and curated gift bags allowed the guests to take this unique wellness experience home with them for some extra self-care. Guests were provided with soft, silk sleep masks by Lunya (an Altha favorite—the whole practitioner team was dressed in their beautiful lounegwear), allowing for further relaxation. These bespoke gift bags also included intentional items from brands we love:
