Kavana at Musa: Building a New Vision for Wellness and Connection

See this content in the original post

Kavana at Musa will be a place where wellness, creativity, and sustainable living come together to offer unparalleled wellness experiences. Located on a breathtaking stretch of Pacific coastline in Guerrero, Mexico, Musa is a developing 177-acre wellness-focused community designed to reimagine how life, work, and connection coexist. Spearheaded by founders Andrés Saavedra and Tara Medina, Musa will eventually be home to spaces that inspire creativity, sustainability, and meaningful interactions.

At the heart of this future-focused sanctuary will ve Kavana, a vast temple for sound ceremonies, learning, and connection. While Kavana is still in progress, its mission is clear: to provide a space where individuals can explore new, innovative ways of living and healing.

This fall, I attended the Ripple of Impact Retreat, a gathering powered by the incredible people behind Kavana. Designed to showcase Musa’s potential, the retreat brought together prominent figures in the wellness community to experience the property and take part in the vision for a new, better future.

 What is Kavana?

Kavana is envisioned as a central hub within Musa—a space dedicated to personal transformation, sound healing, and education for practitioners and participants alike. It represents the deeper intention behind Musa: to foster interconnection and to help create a purpose-driven, impact-focused community.

Kavana will be 30-acre oceanfront Retreat Center and Learning Institute provide designed to provide an environment for sound ceremonies and integrative wellness practices while serving as a gathering place for those seeking innovative approaches to living and healing. This temple will be a cornerstone of the broader Musa project, aligning with its commitment to sustainability, conscious design, and cultural expression.

Musa: A Community Rooted in Purpose

Musa’s ambition extends far beyond offering a luxury retreat experience. It’s being developed as a community where art, music, work, and wellness intersect to create a space for growth and collaboration.

Planned features include podcast recording studios, markets, horse stables, and thoughtfully designed residential and hotel spaces. Every element of Musa is guided by sustainability, from permaculture farming to solar energy integration. Impact initiatives include supporting quality education, reducing inequalities, and promoting sustainable cities and communities.

During the Ripple of Impact Retreat, we witnessed Musa’s commitment to its surroundings through initiatives like a turtle release ceremony. Watching baby sea turtles make their journey to the ocean was a beautiful reminder of the community’s dedication to preserving marine life and protecting the natural environment.

Ripple of Impact Series: A Glimpse into Musa’s Future

The Ripple of Impact Retreat offered participants a chance to experience the possibilities of the Musa project. Each day was a blend of movement, mindfulness, and connection, providing insight into how the community will function when fully realized.

Mornings began with peaceful tea ceremonies led by Rachel and Sanjay from Pangea Tea. I played the singing bowls during these moments, adding a deeper sense of calm to the ritual. These ceremonies set the tone for days filled with enriching activities like:

  • Yoga at the Water Temple: A serene practice that connected participants to their bodies and surroundings.

  • Temazcal Ceremonies: Traditional sweat lodges that offered physical and spiritual cleansing.

  • Integrated Intelligence Experiences: Workshops that explored the balance between alpha and omega energies, or masculine and feminine energies, while encouraging self-awareness and nervous system recalibration.

The retreat also included a signature Altha Hypno-Sound Bath, where participants experienced deep relaxation through sound and therapeutic hypnosis.

Evenings brought the group together for meals highlighting local, sustainably sourced ingredients. These shared moments underscored the importance of connection and intentional living, core values of both Musa and Kavana.

Join The Journey

Kavana and Musa represent a new approach to community, one that integrates sustainability, wellness, and creativity into everyday life. This project is not just about creating a destination—it’s about building a movement. Although I just got a peek into what this community will be during the retreat, I am incredibly excited for the project and am confident it will help us all progress toward a more connected, sustainable, and intentional way of living.

The team behind Kavana and Musa is setting a powerful example of how communities can balance innovation with environmental stewardship. From composting and waste management to gender equality and responsible consumption, every initiative is designed with impact in mind. As Musa and Kavana continue to develop, the promise of this community is clear: a place where life, work, and wellness merge seamlessly.
